Note: MommaJam has laryngitis during this interview.  The raspy voice is not deliberate, despite a trip to NYC for a day without the kids.  Hopefully, my regular voice will be back soon!

Today, we are talking to Annmarie Seldon from TrendyMommies.com.  We share our wacky adventures in NYC last weekend while attending the Getting Gorgeous event for mom and fashion bloggers.  The event was just off 7th Avenue a.k.a. Fashion Avenue in this cool, all-white warehouse space that was ever so chic.

We also like Secret Sleeves – a scarf with sleeves.  The fabric is soft and velvety and is easy to fold up to store in your purse.  You can wear it as as a scarf, but then you can slip your arms into these secret sleeves, and, voila!, you have a shawl.  $40 at SecretSleeves.com

We both LOVED the makeup and the lesson on how to create smokey eyes.  The girls at the event were using Smash Box products.  I had no idea how to do a smokey eye and it was fun to learn how to do a different make up look.  She used colors I would never have picked for myself.  The new summer palette used at the Getting Gorgeous event is called Softbox Eye Shadow Palette and it’s on sale at Smashbox.com right now for $48.

In the Getting Gorgeous Goodie Bag, we received NYX eye shadow and lipstick.  My NYX Black Label lipstick is bright, bright, bright red and is called Fire.  But, when you put it on, it’s not obnoxious or bold like a matte lipstick.  It is smooth and tinted, so the color is subtle.  Definitely a great daytime lipstick for moms.  I want to try some of the berry colors next.

Next up are the Tide products.  Ironically, we got cleaning products in our bags, including a Tide to Go pen.  My kids were all over this product, trying to get out stains  on their shirts.  It was cute.  Note: silly putty does not come out with Tide (or anything for that matter), but it does get out basic stains.  Yeah!

Lastly, “15 Minutes Outside” is a terrific new book by Rebecca P. Cohen.  It features 365 ways to get out of the house and connect with your kids.  I like this book because it’s broken down by month and has tips for each season.  The ideas are simple and practical.  Amazon.com for about $10.
