Use Outdoor Fabric, Plastic Table Cloths, Vinyl for Recovering Chairs, Pillows, Bar Stools

Tune into the Thursday, July 28 segment of MommaJam on 95.9 WATD-FM for Easy DIY Kitchen Project Tips.

MommaJam and morning show host Lisa Azizian crank up the volume to give moms tips for keeping it clean, whether you’re crafting or getting messy finger prints off the furniture.

Summer is when kids are eating gooey, drippy foods like popsicles.  You kitchen seat cushions and living room pillows take a beating.

To help protect furniture from messy fingers and sandy feet, cover your kitchen chairs with outdoor fabric that repels liquids and dirt.  Some of today’s new patterns and textures help hide smudges, and the durable fabrics are easy to wipe clean.

There are tons of gorgeous outdoor fabric options online.  The most popular brand in Sunbrella, which has fun patterns, but just a basic Google search for outdoor fabric will turn up great ideas and companies.

Another tip for recovering kitchen chairs is to use plastic table cloths as your fabric.  Buy enough plastic tables cloths to cover each chair.  Keep it simple and temporary:  Go to Target or Christmas Tree Shop to get inexpensive table clothes.  Cover your chairs the same way you would any other chair with fancy fabric.

Or, use oil cloth or vinyl fabric.  Again, a basic Google search on line will turn up links, but my favorite company is called Harts Fabric, which has amazing patterns and colors to match any room in the house.

Again, keep it simple.  Summer is a time to relax, but also a time to tackle projects.  This one is easy and effective.
